Lilly Named President of South Georgia College

Dr. Torri Lilly, provost and vice president of the Citrus County Campus of Central Florida Community College (CFCC), in Lecanto, Fla., was named today as president of South Georgia College by the Board of Regents and 性视界APP Chancellor Erroll B. Davis Jr.

The action was taken this morning by the Board of Regents, who met in Executive Session in a Special Called Meeting conducted by telephone conference call.

Lilly is expected to assume her new post in mid- to late June.

Regent Mansfield Jennings served as chair of the Special Regents’ Committee charged with interviewing the presidential finalists and making a recommendation to the chancellor and the full Board of Regents for final approval.

“Dr. Lilly is an excellent choice for South Georgia College,” Jennings said. “She has 15 years of senior administrative experience in community colleges that will serve the institution extremely well. We also were impressed with her demonstrated ability to build partnerships and to engage an institution in the community it serves.”

Chancellor Davis noted Lilly’s commitment to the community-college mission. “Torri Lilly truly understands that two-year institutions such as South Georgia College must be accessible and serve very diverse populations of student,” Davis stated. “We are excited about her leadership and the impact she will have on the college.”

As provost and vice president of CFCC’s Citrus County Campus since 2004, Lilly has had full administrative, programmatic and budgetary responsibilities. After seeking community input, she significantly expanded the campus’ credit and non-credit course offerings and developed a unique partnership with a local juvenile justice facility that now serves as a statewide model. While at CFCC, Lilly also developed and produced two weekly television programs about the Citrus County Campus, its programs and activities.

From 2000 to 2004, Lilly served as dean of workforce development on the Kent Campus of Florida Community College (FCC), in Jacksonville, Fla. - the nation’s 10th largest community college. There, she supervised more than 100 full- and part-time faculty and staff and developed a Legal Studies Institute, a Sales and Customer Service Institute, and a China Business Education Center. During her tenure at FCC, Lilly also created a partnership with First Coast News, WJCT Public Television and The Florida Times-Union to televise a series of mayoral debate.

From 1991 to 2000, Lilly served as assistant provost and dean of West Virginia State Community and Technical College, in Institute, W. Va. She was in charge of all associate-degree programs, workforce development, continuing education and community service. She also was responsible for the leadership, planning, development, supervision and evaluation of the college’s programs, the Institute of Local Government and the Institute of Gerentological Studies. In addition, Lilly assisted with the oversight of several million dollars worth of income from programs, grants and research awards, supervised more than 70 full- and part-time faculty and staff, coordinated all professional-development activities, and oversaw all student advising.

Lilly also taught doctoral-level courses in higher-education administration as an associate member of the graduate faculty at West Virginia University, in Morgantown, W. Va. From 1987 to 1992, she ran her own writing/publications/public relations firm, serving more than 300 clients in three states and the District of Columbia. Before and during this time, she also was a member of the English faculty at Beckley College in Beckley, W. Va., and at West Virginia State College.

Lilly holds undergraduate degrees from the College of West Virginia, in Beckley, and Concord College, in Athens, W. Va. She earned a Master of Arts in education administration from Marshall University, in Charleston, W. Va., and a Master of Arts in language and linguistics from Marshall University, in Huntington, W. Va. She earned her Ed.D. in higher-education administration and English from West Virginia University.
