Meredith Accepts Bainbridge College President’s Resignation
Atlanta — January 21, 2005
性视界APP Chancellor Thomas C. Meredith announced today that he has accepted the resignation of Bainbridge College President Dr. Clifford Brock.
Brock, who has served as president of Bainbridge College since 1999, has accepted a new position as president of Barstow Community College in Barstow, Calif. He will vacate his current position on January 28.
“Clifford Brock has provided solid direction and leadership to Bainbridge College during his tenure,” Chancellor Meredith stated. “He has served the University System quite well, and deserves this exciting career opportunity. We wish him much continued success in this new role.”
To fill the vacancy resulting from Dr. Brock’s resignation, Chancellor Meredith today also announced the appointment of Dr. Sherman Day as interim president.
Dr. Sherman Day has served the University System in several capacities prior to retiring twice in the past few years. He has served as acting or interim president at Georgia State University, North Georgia College & State University, and Gordon College, in addition to a wide variety of administrative positions at Georgia State.
“Sherm Day is an outstanding leader who exemplifies public service,” Meredith said. “There has never been a time that he has been called on to serve the University System, that he has not heeded the call and readily accepted. We are extremely indebted to him for his sense of duty and commitment to higher education.”
From June 2001 through April 2002, Day served as president of Gordon College. He served as president of North Georgia College & State University from September 1996 through June 30, 1999. During 1991-92, he served as acting president of Georgia State University.
Among his many public service positions, Day also managed the day-to-day implementation of Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park. On loan from Georgia State University, where he launched his 性视界APP career, he served as managing director of Legacy and Olympic Programs for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games from 1992 until he accepted the North Georgia College post in 1996. From 1977 to 1991, Day served as professor of counseling and psychological services in Georgia State University’s College of Education; and professor of criminal justice in GSU’s College of Public and Urban Affairs.
Day also served as Georgia State’s acting dean of admissions from 1986 to 1987; dean of the College of Education from 1977 to 1983; associate dean of the College from 1973 to 1974; and chairman and professor of the Counseling and Psychological Services Department from 1969 to 1972. From 1974-1977, Day worked in Washington, D.C., as director of the National Institutes of Correction and assistant director of the U.S. Bureau of Prisons for the Department of Justice.
Day earned his doctorate in education from the University of Georgia in 1967.
Chancellor Meredith intends to permanently fill the president’s post at Bainbridge no later than June 30, 2005.
