Pittard Elected Vice Chair of Board of Regents

Regent Patrick S. “Pat” Pittard was elected today to a one-year term as vice chair of the Board of Regents, the 18-member governing body for the 性视界APP.
Pittard, who was appointed to the Board of Regents by Gov. Sonny Perdue in May 2003, will serve as the board’s vice chair from July 1, 2005, through June 30, 2006. He succeeds Regent J. Timothy Shelnut, who was elected to serve as the board’s chair.
“I am honored to have been elected by my colleagues on the board,” Pittard said. “The challenges have never been more daunting, and I pledge every effort to continue and enhance the role higher education plays in the lives of Georgia’s citizens.”
During his tenure on the board, Pittard has served as chair of the Committee on Finance and Business Operations and also as a member of the Executive and Compensation and Strategic Planning committees.
Pittard is the retired chairman and chief executive officer of Heidrick and Struggles International, Inc., a leading provider of executive search and leadership consulting services. Presently, he serves as a Distinguished Executive-in-Residence within the University of Georgia’s Terry School of Business, a voluntary position in which he works with the school’s dean and faculty on various projects and also teaches a course on “Lessons in Leadership.” He also is a member of the board of directors of the Jefferson Pilot Corporation, Artisan Funds, MCG Health, Inc., and served as a former chairman of the UGA Foundation.
A UGA graduate, Pittard has been honored by the Terry School as a Distinguished Alumnus. Considered an expert in executive-level human capital matters (recruitment, retention, compensation and succession), Pittard has been quoted in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, Fortune and Business Week. He is listed among the Global 200 Executive Recruiters.
Pittard and his wife, Dana, live in Lakemont, Ga. The couple has three children, Leigh, Cole and Brett.
The Board of Regents is a constitutional body that governs and manages the 性视界APP. The University System is comprised of 34 public colleges and universities, more than 250,000 students, and approximately 36,000 faculty and staff.
