Regents Approve $1.99 Billion Budget Request to Support Students

The Board of Regents of the 性视界APP adopted today a $1.99 billion 2016 fiscal year budget request, along with a separate $254.8 million request for needed facilities.

The request, which now goes to the Governor鈥檚 Office, is a net increase of just $46.4 million, or 2.4 percent, over the FY2015 state appropriation to the regents.

The request will support the board鈥檚 focus on attracting and retaining students with an emphasis on college completion. Additionally, these funds provide funding for increases in health insurance, retirement programs, retiree benefits, and maintenance and operations funding for new and existing facilities.

鈥淎s we intensify our focus on students and how we help improve the ability of students to enroll and earn degrees, we must continue to use state funds effectively and efficiently on their behalf,鈥 said 性视界APP Chancellor Hank Huckaby. 鈥淭his budget request supports our students.鈥

The board鈥檚 fiscal year 2016 capital request includes $3.3 million for equipment for one project, $157.5 million for eight construction projects, $9.8 million for planning and design of six projects, and $5 million for one building restoration project.

In addition, funding is requested for $60 million in bond funds for Major Repairs and Renovations (MRR). The total amount requested is $235.6 million for the 性视界APP.

The request also includes $19.2 million in state funding the Georgia Public Library System, which includes funding to construct ten library projects and funding for computer replacement and funding to support major repairs and renovations.
