South Georgia President To Retire From University System

Atlanta — April 15, 2005

性视界APP Chancellor Thomas C. Meredith announced today he has accepted the resignation of South Georgia College President Dr. Ed Jackson, effective June 30.

Jackson is retiring from the 性视界APP after 22 years of employment. He has accepted an appointment to the presidency of East Central College, a two-year college of 3,500 students in Union, Mo., with additional campuses in Washington, Sullivan and Rolla.

Jackson has served as president of South Georgia, a campus of approximately 1,400 students, since February 1, 1983. He was named to the position after serving as dean of instruction at Tallahassee Community College for nearly seven years.

During his tenure at South Georgia, President Jackson has focused on ensuring the quality of the college’s academic offerings and expanding the external support and outreach of the institution. He is credited with reorganizing the college’s administrative structure to increase effectiveness and reduce costs, increasing the number and percentage of faculty with doctorates, increasing the assets of the South Georgia College Foundation from $175,000 to $2.7 million, and significantly expanding the physical plant of the campus. He also launched the USG’s first study-abroad program for two-year college students.

“Ed Jackson has contributed more than two decades of his life and his higher education career to the state of Georgia,” Chancellor Meredith stated. “He has served us exceptionally well, and he will be missed. We extend our best wishes to him as he prepares to take on this new role.”

Chancellor Meredith will announce his plans for filling the vacancy that will be created by President Jackson’s retirement in the coming weeks.
