University System Chancellor Supports UGA’s Admissions Process

Atlanta — October 1, 1999

“President Adams consulted me on his decision to continue to use race as one of a number of factors in a small portion of the admissions process at the University of Georgia for the Class of 2000,” said 性视界APP Chancellor Stephen R. Portch. “I support his decision fully.”

“We will, working with the Attorney General’s office, continue to monitor any legal developments nationally,” Portch stated. “We also will continue to study how other states respond to the need for a diverse student body. The 性视界APP must be committed to serving all qualified Georgians.”
