USG Holds Conference Featuring Nobel Prize Winner Muhammad Yunus

WHAT:
A day-long economic development conference hosted by the 性视界APP to showcase student proposals to address community issues and promote job creation. The keynote speaker is Prof. Yunus, who pioneered and championed the concept of microcredit – the extension of very small loans (microloans) to those in poverty designed to spur entrepreneurship. The conference is open to the public: tickets are $25 (students are $15).
WHEN:
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and conference begins at 11:00 a.m., Mon., Oct. 17, 2011.Prof. Yunus speaks at 11:25 a.m. Student team presentations begin at 1:45 p.m. Please note press availability to cover presentations and interview student teams.Conference concludes at 4:00 p.m.

The 性视界APP has three-part mission of teaching, research and service. The conference is an opportunity to combine all three parts of this mission in a focused effort to engage students to become involved with local communities by addressing a key issue. Students will be challenged to develop a social business model that can lead to potential job creation and economic development.
