Proposals are due by 5 PM EST on November 4, 2024.

The 性视界APP invites you to submit session proposals for this year鈥檚 annual conference centered on one of the four strands:

Session formats

Interactive Presentations (45 minutes)

Interactive presentations showcase innovative teaching approaches, emerging pedagogical research, and/or transformative instructional solutions. They should be highly interactive so that conference participants can engage in and explore pedagogical practices, problem-solving, and concepts. The facilitators should ensure participants are actively involved in the discussion, activity designing process and implementation strategies, which participants can then take back to their institution/classroom.

All submissions should include:

  • Title (15 words)
  • Abstract (100 words): Overview of your proposal
  • Instructional challenge (100 words): What is the innovative teaching approach, emerging pedagogical research, and/or transformative instructional solution you would like to share during this interactive presentation?
  • Benefits (100 words): How will participants benefit from the this interactive presentation approach? Explain the deliverables that participants will walk away with, such as new skill sets, assignment templates, implementation strategies, etc.
  • Engagement (100 words): What activities will you use in the session to engage your participants?

You can find guidelines for effective interactive presentations here.

Technology considerations: Each interactive presentation room will have a projector (w/ HDMI connector) with screen, podium with mic, 1 handheld mic, flip chart with markers. All presenters must bring their own computers and connectors/dongles.

Take Ten Talks (10 minutes)

Short, dynamic, technology-free ten-minute presentations focusing on a single, actionable takeaway. Topics could include:

  • Scholarship of Teaching & Learning
  • Effective teaching strategies
  • Engagement and motivation strategies
  • Innovative assignments
  • Application of technology
  • Strategies for self-care or student well-being
  • Inclusive teaching practices
  • Assessment techniques

All submissions should include:

  • Title (15 words)
  • Abstract (100 words): Overview of your proposal.
  • Benefits (100 words): How will participants benefit from attending this session?

You can find guidelines for effective Take Ten Talks here.

Technology considerations: Take Ten Talks are technology-free. Rooms are set up with chairs in a circle. Each session will feature three Take Ten Talks, followed by discussion. Please practice your timing beforehand so you are able to hit all your major points within the time limit. Presenters can bring handouts, if appropriate.

Infographic Lightning Round (5 minutes)

Presenters have five minutes and one single slide to give an overview of the work they are showcasing in this fast-paced lightning round, similar in format to a three-minute thesis.

In one slide, presenters will use images, illustrations, and minimal text to support their idea. Visuals are the primary medium for communication; words are not the driving force in an infographic. This format allows you to present data, a real-time teaching tip, or a cutting-edge idea. The infographic is presented in lieu of a traditional academic poster.

All submissions should include:

  • Title (15 words)
  • Abstract (100 words): Overview of your proposal.
  • Benefits (100 words): How will participants benefit from attending this session?

Technical specifications: Infographics should be 13 inches by 7.5 inches and oriented in landscape form. This is the standard slide size in PowerPoint. They can also be made using Venngage, Piktochart, Canva, or other digital poster software. All infographics should be in PDF form and must be uploaded to no later than March 20, 2025.

Additional help:

Technology considerations: Each Infographic Lightning Round room will have a projector with screen and podium with mic. In these rooms only, a computer will be provided, along with a moderator who will pull up the infographic from the program and keep presenters on time.

Proposals are due by 5 PM EST on November 4, 2024.
