Additional Information Regarding House Bill 280

Below you will find additional information in response to frequently asked questions that members of the USG community have asked.

It is important to reiterate that House Bill 280 and Senate Bill 319 (referred to collectively below as 鈥渢he Campus Carry Law鈥) establish that anyone who qualifies as a lawful weapon carrier may carry a handgun 鈥 in a concealed manner only 鈥 anywhere on Georgia鈥檚 public college and university campuses, except in certain areas that are specifically listed in the law. If an area of campus is not mentioned in one of those exceptions, lawful weapon carriers may carry guns there. It is the responsibility of each weapons carrier to know whether a specific area of campus is prohibited. Georgia law does not give colleges and universities in Georgia discretion to prohibit handguns on their campuses or to add any additional exceptions to the ability to carry handguns beyond those already contained in the law.
