At Simon, we believe that being up-to-date in charging technology is crucial as the technology is constantly evolving, just like mobile phones. They are increasing in capacity, working more efficiently and requiring more powerful loads. That is why our line of chargers includes “Quick Charge” chargers that can charge a phone in half the time, to prevent you from running out of battery when you need it most.
Smart Charge
SmartCharge technology identifies the type of phone that is being charged, to optimize its charge. To give a practical example, it’s like adapting the language in a conversation to the other person’s language.
Doing this allows the two parties involved in that energy transmission to agree on the optimal amount of power needed.
The benefit is clear: charge faster when it is most needed, for example when the phone has less than 5% battery, or reduce it when it is above 80% to avoid unnecessary heating that causes energy loss.
Fast Charge
The “Fast Charge” technology replicates two existing technologies on the market: Quick Charge and Power Delivery (PD). These technologies are the most commonly used by phone manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, etc.
“Fast Charge” adapts the intensity needed by the device's battery to charge as efficiently as possible. The benefits are two-fold, as the phone can be charged in half the time, and it also adapts the intensity according to its requirements, preventing it from overheating unnecessarily.
The USB Type-C connector’s design and construction are perfect for applying this technology.
Charging cables
At Simon we have the most common types of charging cables, such as Lightning for iPhone and iPad (MU100101), USB C for most devices and future standard (MU143201-MU133201) or Micro USB (MU112221), a connector that is increasingly out of use, but there are still many devices that use it, such as headphones, musical accessories, pest control devices, etc.
The cable is one of the elements that we least appreciate as users, but that is just as important as the charger itself, as using a very powerful charger with a cable that supports less power will not guarantee the expected charge.
To avoid having 2 or 3 different cables with various connectors, the CL610305 USB 3-pin cable adaptor is ideal, as its triple plug means you can forget about having to look for the correct cable to charge your device. It has a retractable cable of almost one metre that you can hide when not in use, helping you to keep things tidy. The perfect solution for a very common problem.
Inductive charging
When it comes to avoiding cables, “wireless” solutions are becoming more and more popular.
There are various protocols or market standards, but the most common among phone manufacturers is Qi.
With wireless or inductive charging, you don’t need a cable connected to the device to charge it. Instead, the system forces the phone to be touching the charger in a certain position so that the element emitting the charge is aligned with the one that receives it.
It may seem complicated, but it is an obvious advantage. Simply place the phone on top of the charger in a certain way and it will charge your device.
As with USB charging, the powers advance as phones do. A low or normalized charging power would be 5 W (1 A), such as the ones which have the Combiball (BM516302). A faster charging power would be 10 W (2 A), which is double, and we have some products with these features (BM516306 - BM516201) in terms of compact power strips, as well as an adaptor with inductive charging (CL610307).
